Anavyssos, Attica, Hellas, 29.April.2024
With great pleasure, we participated in the final conference of the Water Matters1 project titled Sustainable water management: problems, challenges and solutions, implemented by the Institute of Marine Biological Resources and Inland Waters2. The event took place on April 24, 2024, at the Hellenic Center for Marine Research in Anavyssos, offering a valuable opportunity to explore current challenges in water management and best practices in sustainable water resource utilization. During our presentation titled Addressing large scale patterns of no-flow events in rivers’, we discussed issues related no flow events to watercourses and rivers that may arise from both natural causes and human interventions, incorporating climate change. The conference was hybrid, with 40 participants attending in person and 20 participants joining via an online platform.
The project ‘Water Matters – Increasing Knowledge on the Importance of the Good Status of Water Bodies’ was funded by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway Grants)3 with the Program Operator being the Ministry of Development and Investments4. Its main objectives included awareness-raising and information dissemination regarding sustainable water management.
